Sony Online Entertainment has released a slick new trailer showing off the recently announced Battlegrounds feature, which is set to debut next Tuesday, February 16th.
Battlegrounds are instanced PvP scenarios a'la World of Warcraft for up to 48 players, with the initial offering featuring cross-server play, three game modes (Capture the Flag, Hold the Relic, and Hold Territory), three maps, and new exclusive armor sets.
Watch the trailer here. You can also find a bevy of new screenshots on the upcoming Battlegrounds feature in our EverQuest II gallery.
I like the maps shown in the trailer but overall not a fan of arena combat. It becomes a epeen sport.
I have a quick question. Are these only going to be available to those at level cap? Or will there be different level tiers ala WoW and War (and any other game that does it, those are just the two I'm familiar with)?
gonna start have two tiers to start 80-89 and level 90. then eventually they are going to add more level ranges.
They must have Nasa computers, EQ2 never runs that smooth for me :P
PvP always is about epeen.
Not exactly.
Yes, a lot of people play PvP for this reason, but you can PvP just to have fun and experience another setting with your character.
One more gameplay option in a MMORPG is always good and arenas can be fun.
If a player feels too much frustration in PvP combat and keep thinking others are killing him/her for epeen and self affirmation then there is the possibility that deep inside this player is playing for the epeen also and not just for "fun" and challenge.
Hmm , ok i didnt se that coming... I have bought and tried eq 2 but after 16 days quited. It was the lack of well organised pvp. I play 5 y wow almost from start. I cant deny though that if eq 2 has bg's and arenas id maybe in eq2 cause it has many things that wow will never offer. From loads of races and better and more intresting classes to crafting and housing. It was the end game lack of purpose/pvp scope that made me bored .I cant play just pve otherwise id be still at oblivion . Besides if someone likes just pve can always play ddo which after all has the combat system and dungeon crawling around.
A well organised pvp form gives for me a new prespective view of eq 2 which it could make me re-consider eq 2 as a choise.
Interesting
