OMG If SE adds jumping to this game, I'm totally not going to play it.

But really jumping isn't this important.

In a pvp game, jumping can allow someone to skip the animation sequence of a spell or shot, like an arrow shot. It's not intended by the developers to do this and some players view it as an exploit of sorts.

This shaves some seconds off that persons attack time so they can still get the damage of the skill, but don't have to sit through 3 seconds of animation or whatever and can load up the next one.

FFXIV is not a pvp game, even if they do add some elements of it, so the only reason I think they are putting it in is for social/atmosphere type of visuals.

Personally, I don't like the jumping but meh, they probably going to cave and put it in.

You sir/ma'am are one of the few people to make a good point. I would like to salute you, but this topic is not important enough to talk about, I'm guessing you didn't see the thread that was next to this one with the person saying they wouldn't play if jumping was implemented.

I want to fly high!

I'm ok without jumping, but a feature that lets you "Leap" over fences would be nice. Perhaps add it to chocobos to make them easier to pilot. Nothing frustrates me more than not being able to at least leap over a small fence or small ledge on a ground.

An action command to get over small obstacles would be so much better than jumping. If I see bunny hoppers like in WoW and on BF then I'm going to personally take a nice visit to SE and make them take it out...."politely"

Just let me jump over fences that are ankle high and I'll be ok. It really really sucks when you aggro a monster because you had to go *all* the way around a fence just to get over it.

I see no problem with this.
