Icarus Studios has announced today that a Beta version of the upcoming Mac release of Fallen Earth is now available! If you're a Mac gamer with hardware that meets the listed requirements (OS X Leopard 10.5, Intel CPU, and dedicated graphics), and an itch for post-apocalyptic MMOG gameplay, you can get started by downloading the beta client here. View the original announcement here. A FAQ is also available. [Thanks Einherjar_LC for the tip!] Michael "MikeB" Bitton |

Goody Goody Gumdrop. I run a Mac and dual boot for games, but I'm lazy, so find myself playing more and more my Mac partition games, so glad to see another exciting looking MMO for it. Might as well use my free 30 days now. |

Amazing what Icarus are managing to get done with Fallen Earth and the frequency of there updates, makes me wonder what bigger studios actually do with their time and our money. |

Guys dont get excited.. i downloaded it and it runs really bad ;p i had all on low its unplayable. I had about 12 fps on creation screen. Comparing to windows where i ran it 1680x1050 high 35-50 fps stable. I sometimes wonder if they even tried to run it on mac coz if they did they wouldnt have release the news without fixing it. Thats my opinion. |

It is in beta remember, and with the amount of optimization done to the windows client since beta, im sure it will be up to speed in no time. Curious as to what your system specs are to? |

When i said i run on windows with pretty decent performance i meant Bootcamp. Its on same hardware. I got 2,66 ghz c2d, hd 2600 xt mobility, 2Gb RAM. I was really surprised when i first got into game on Bootcamp and it looked awesome and ran awesome. Im not saying that its bad that they made a Mac client. - its great :) game is amazing i meant they advertise it like Mythic did with WAR and WAR client was running horrible too; o Hope they fix the FE client and i can play it on my MAC :) |

Considering how much they've optimized the Windows client since realease, it won't be very long at all until they get the Mac client optimized to make it an equally viable platform to enjoy Fallen Earth.
It's also a beta client so they're still working out the bugs. The fact that they even think enough about their player base, or potential players to give this a shot says a lot to me about how Icarus does business. They want customers and will do what they think necessary to get their game as much exposure as possible. They are definitely taking a different approach than what many of us have gotten used to over the last handful of years. Icarus is showing it's customers that they care and that we are more than just a revenue stream to them. |

I'm impressed Icarus managed to provide a Mac client for the game when most big budget MMOs don't even provide one. |

6 months in and already they've done two large fix patches, a mac client AND given away 4000 copies of the game... What the heck are these guys doing as an indie that the big names took ages to do? 2 years time....? CCP level of indie godlike powers and owning WotC? At this rate more then bloodly likely Bring on the WARRRRGGHH! |
